Ilana Slott, LMSW

Licensed Master Social Worker

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker and a believer that therapy is a powerful process that relies on the foundation of a strong relationship between client and therapist.  As such, during sessions I aim to create a safe, comfortable space where clients feel they can express their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgement.

I take an integrative approach with my clients and incorporate techniques from both behavioral and psychodynamic treatment modalities to cater to their individual needs and goals.  Together, we work on modifying unproductive thoughts and behaviors, identifying and changing maladaptive patterns, and developing effective coping techniques to help you live a happier, more fulfilling life.

I specialize in treating adults with anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, relationship issues, self-esteem issues, and major life changes.

Clinical Training

I have a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida and a Master of Social Work from New York University.  As part of my my graduate education, I worked in an array of medical and social service settings, including an outpatient women’s health clinic and a psychiatric emergency room, where I provided assessment, counseling, and intervention services to adults.

Following graduation, I specialized in working with children and families dealing with issues related to adoption, foster care, and physical and/or developmental disabilities.  I also worked with older adults in an inpatient rehabilitation program and supported patients and their children in dealing with issues related to aging, loss, and changing family relationships.

In addition to working as a therapist in private practice, I currently provide emergency intervention to adults in psychiatric crisis via the Mount Sinai Health System.
